Francis Lass was a journalist writing the gig guide at Time Out magazine back in the 80's when she guested on Charlie's "Undercurrents" radio show on Capital. Some memorable tracks from mostly British bands of the time like Scritti Polliti, Girls At Our Best and The Chefs etc. New small label bands with a pop sensibility that still sound good today. A shame that so many of them vanished without trace!

Thanks for your concern Anon. No it wasn't offensive just in the wrong place.
Thanks for uploading this. I never had the opportunity of hearing it more than 30 years ago. I remember I was nervous and Charlie wouldnt let me smoke or drink. It was also hard to choose the records within the strict limitations of releases of that particular week. He didnt like my choice of pop stuff... and wouldnt play the last choice, which was Soft Cell's Tainted Love, the only one that went on to do anything. And, oh dear, I dedicated a Gary Glitter song to my one-year-old neice. Well, I didnt know!!

Thanks for the comment Frances. Glad you were able to hear it after all these years. I guess we would all do things slightly differently with the benefit of hindsight! I was a guest some years later in the 90's - playing some old scratchy market finds and I was very nervous too so know how you feel. Charlie was the perfect host though and tried to make me feel at ease despite the huge microphone dangling in front of my face!
