Barry Andrews (Re-Up)

I think I found this Virgin single at Brick Lane back in the 80's. I can't find that much about Barry, only that he was in the punky pop band XTC for a while and left to join Robert Fripp in the League of Gentlemen and eventually Shriekback who may or may not still be around? In between he made this fine single that sadly wasn't a hit and a solo album I forget the name of. Maybe looking HERE will help fill in these gaps in my woeful blurb.

Thanks very much for this. I‘ve been looking for a copy of this single (On and off) for many years. Remember hearing it played on the radio a few times when it was released and it captured my imagination instantly. Hugely evocative lyrics, almost Kinks-like, with a slightly ethereal, hypnotic sound. it’s a bit faster than I remember it, but it was nearly thirty years ago! If anything is a lost classic its this one.

Cheers.

Please ignore the request I made on your ealier entry for these songs. Thank you, you have made a "near" middle aged man very happy.

Glad you found it Trotski - happy to oblige.

Brilliant - been looking for this for about 20 years. Annie Nightingale played it once, couldn't find it for love nor money.

No problem - glad it still works.

Excellent, never liked XTC but loved this after hearing it once on John Peel.

Great job posting this one

Hi - the links seem to be dead. Any chance of re-upping this? Thanks!

If I come across it whilst sorting through my records I will try to remember to upload it again.
