Another mystery disc for an early Halloween. Found at a boot sale last year for a few pence. It sounds a bit like the Barron Knights for those firmiliar with their work. Calling it "More Monster Hits" is quite funny as they obviously never had any or anything approaching a hit. Nothing can be found about them on the internet. Bullseye seems to be a label based in the North East of England and run on a shoe string judging by the sleeve art! Other tracks include versions of Cecelia, Take These Chains From My Heart and Old Shep. The whole thing seems to have been masterminded by someone called Ray Banks who has even signed the back of the sleeve.

Great stuff! Dracula sounds like a cross between Spinal Tap's 'Stone'enge'
ReplyDelete& 'Screaming Lord Sutch'. Funnily enough, I clocked another'Don Juans' LP on my travels today. It was more cabaret based with covers like 'American Trilogy'. It was the mod style "Bullseye" label that intrigued me though. Fully autographed too!
Thanks Ron. What a coincidence! Another Don Juan LP?! As if one wasn't enough! Some passable Elvis impersonations on this LP too- also terrible Billy Connolly impression. A bit of a mixed bag but I love finding odd records like this at boot sales and charity shops but they are becoming scarcer every year.
ReplyDeletethanx, i hope...
ReplyDeleteIs this the same Don Juans who were a famed clubland comedy group in the North East back in the 80's / early 90's.
ReplyDeleteIf so, I have quite a few of their cassettes.
I Imagine it is eugene.
ReplyDeleteI remember this from my South Tyneside childhood and my grandad`s record collection! The first Monster Hits LP was red with a picture of Frankenstein`s monster on the front and there were songs like My Ding-a-ling,and a song about Anne Boleyn walking around with her head tucked underneath her arm.I would kill to hear it again!Ah-you`ve set me on a mission now........
