I think I found this Virgin single at Brick Lane back in the 80's. I can't find that much about Barry, only that he was in the punky pop band XTC for a while and left to join Robert Fripp in the
League of Gentlemen and eventually
Shriekback who may or may not still be around? In between he made this fine single that sadly wasn't a hit and a solo album I forget the name of. Maybe looking
HERE will help fill in these gaps in my woeful blurb.

BIG FAN OF rOBERT fRIPP AND OF kINg CrIMsOn. didn't realise that Barry Andrews had worked with Fripp though. Was it about the same time as 'Echo Beach' by Martha and the Muffins (another record produced by Fripp)?
ReplyDeleteRobert Fripp actually plays on this record. other musicians are as follows- Frank abrams, Ian bateman, marion Fudger, Clara harris, Rob hendry, David marx, Bruce McRae, Steve new, Patti Palladin and Richard Wernham. Produced by barry A. and John Strudwick. recorded at Rockstar Studios London W1 16th-18th March 1980. Sleeeve design by Andrews, Denning.
ReplyDeleteI guess that would be about the same time as the Muffins record?
maybe a little before. 78 or 79 i think. Fripp went through a very creative period then either playing with the likes of Bowie, Gabriel, Eno, Blondie, Martha and the Muffins and obviously Barry Andrews.
ReplyDeleteI expect you know this website CJ but heres more info and links via Elephant Walk.
