Novelty Songs

From a tape compiled by Jim Benson -

Tracks are-

1. Istanbul (not Contstantinople ) - Radio Revellers
2. Toot Toot - Fats Domino & Doug Kershaw
3. Working Class Millionaire - Richard Digance
4. Flying saucers - Eddie Grundy
5. Take A Mac - Toby Jug & The Washboard band

In the event of no records being found and too lazy to remove sscanner and plug in the ION turntable we shall have to put up with some more old novelty songs from various tapes already on Treemo.

That was fun and informative. I've only heard the Four Lads version of "Istanbul"

and "Toot Toot" sung by Buckwheat Zydeco.

I think Eric Idle listened to "Working Class Millionaire" before writing "The Galaxy Song."

Or is it the other way around?

I used to hate novelty songs which makes me reflect and think how up my own posterior I must have been as I laugh out loud at many of them now!

Good set of humorous songs. You're lucky to keep finding such records, as my daily trawl turns up very little these days.
