Don Juan

Another mystery disc for Halloween. Found at a boot sale last year for a few pence. It sounds a bit like the Barron Knights for those firmiliar with their work. Calling it "Monster Hits" is quite funny as they obviously never had any or anything approaching a hit. Nothing can be found about them on the internet. Bullseye seems to be a label based in the North East of England and run on a shoe string judging by the sleeve art! Other tracks include versions of Cecelia, Take These Chains From My Heart and Old Shep. The whole thing seems to have been masterminded by someone called Ray Banks who has even signed the back of the sleeve.

I detect a note of Hallowen slipping in here. Sadly, all my kids, apart from one, are too old to come out and play.

Another nugget from that deep chest of yours. I will have to dig around in mine and see if I can find you anything in there.

I do have a soft spot for songs about monsters, vampires and things that go bump in the night I must admit and it seemed the right time to unearth afew choice items from the cobwebby tomb that is my record collection!

The Don Juan's were a comedy group, performing mainly in the North-East of England. Led by Ray Banks for more than 35 years they were one of clubland's leading lights. They released many, many LP's & CD's (I have about 15 in my collection), not all music albums, many of them being comedy albums, with very funny sketches. Sadly they disbanded after the death of co founder Peter Hills, but Ray Banks can still be found performing solo around the North East.
